Enterprise-level protection for small and medium-sized businesses: introducing E5 Security for Microsoft 365 Business Premium

Cybersecurity is no longer an “extra” reserved for large companies: today, it's a fundamental requirement for every organization.

Especially in a context where cyberattacks are increasingly sophisticated, regulations more stringent, and cyber insurance requirements progressively rigorous, imposing high standards even on SMEs.

Microsoft is responding to this need with a major update: Microsoft 365 E5 Security is now available as an add-on for Business Premium customers. This upgrade opens the door to advanced security tools that were previously reserved for large enterprises, now easily and cost-effectively accessible to small and medium-sized businesses. With the E5 Security package, the monthly cost is around $12, offering an estimated saving of about 57% compared to purchasing all included licenses separately.

Why integrate E5 Security with your Business Premium license?

Microsoft 365 Business Premium already offers a solid foundation: device protection, email security, and access management. But to take it to the next level, E5 Security is the answer.

What’s included in the E5 Security add-on:

1. Identity and access under control (Microsoft Entra ID P2)

In addition to single sign-on and multi-factor authentication, Entra ID P2 adds real-time protection against identity attacks and automated access governance, streamlining onboarding, permission management, and anomaly detection in login activity.

2. Extended threat protection (Defender XDR and Defender for Identity)

With AI at its core, Microsoft provides unified visibility across identities, devices, emails, and apps. Threats are detected, correlated, and neutralized more quickly, reducing the risk of breaches and reputational damage.

3. Enhanced device security (Defender for Endpoint P2)

In addition to the features already included in Business Premium, this version adds advanced threat hunting capabilities, protection for IoT devices, and data retention of up to 6 months for in-depth investigations.

4. Advanced email and collaboration defense (Defender for Office 365 P2)

In addition to standard anti-phishing filtering features, the solution offers attack simulations for employee training, automated post-breach responses, and detailed user behavior reports—also valuable for compliance purposes.

5. Protection for SaaS apps (Defender for Cloud Apps)

Allows you to identify and manage applications in use, including unsanctioned ones, and secure the entire cloud ecosystem, including interactions with generative AI tools.

A smart and scalable investment

Today, small and medium-sized businesses can access the same security tools used by large enterprises, easily integrating them into their existing Microsoft 365 Business Premium infrastructure.
A practical solution to strengthen the protection of data, users, and applications—while optimizing costs and resources.
